This Privacy Policy is issued for Recook (Trade license – 9962) (“ Recook ”, “ us ”, or “ we ”)to describe how and why We might collect, store, use and/or share(“ Process ”) your personal information when you use Our services (“ Services ”), such as when you:

  • Download and use Recook application (“ Platform ”); and/or
  • Engage with us in other related ways - includes any sales, marketing or events.

In order to provide Our Services, Recook collects and uses personal data about individuals who browse our Platform or use Our Services. Personal data is any information that can be used, directly or indirectly to identify a person. Therefore, we strongly recommend you to carefully read this privacy policy to understand how Recook collects and uses this information, before you access Our Services Recook is fully committed to complying with the Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on the Protection of Personal Data (PDPL) and any other relevant data protection legislation in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Recook collects and process personal data both directly and indirectly, as outlined below:

Information you provide

This includes information we collect based on your interactions with us on the Platform and your use of our Services. The personal information we directly collect are those that you voluntarily provide us, including information that you enter into our free text forms and submit. This information personally identifies you and includes information such as your Name, Email address, Phone number, Emails, In-app messages, Photos, Videos, Files and docs, Voice or sound recordings, In-app search history, Other user-generated content, Crash logs, Diagnostics, App performance data, App interactions. Please note that any additional information voluntarily added by you in our forms may also be used to identify you.

Sensitive information

When necessary, and only with your consent or as otherwise permitted by the applicable laws, we process the following categories of sensitive information:

  • Recook collects information provided directly by users, such as when creating or modifying an account which includes but not limited to Name, Email address, Phone number, Emails, In-app messages, Photos, Videos, Files and docs, Voice or sound recordings, In-app search history, Other user-generated content, Crash logs, Diagnostics, App performance data, App interactions. ("Personal Data").
  • The provision of Personal Data is voluntary unless otherwise stated herein or as determined by Recook. However, failure to provide Personal Data may limit Recook's ability to provide certain services. If you are a user, provision of your Personal Data is essential for the use of Recook's services.
  • When using Recook Services, the app has the right to collect information including location, contact details, transaction details, usage preferences, electronic device information, call and SMS data, and log information.
  • Users provide information about their location, destination, and items transported when using the Application. Technical data, such as IP address and device information, is processed to deliver app functionalities, resolve technical issues, and improve app performance.
  • Users may be asked to provide a contact number for a person who can be reached by the other users to collect items. Users must obtain consent before providing such contact information.

In accordance with the PDPL, Recook collects, uses, and processes personal data solely for purposes clearly stated in this Privacy Policy, ensuring that our users' data is handled lawfully, fairly, and transparently. We collect personal information with the express consent of our users or as required for the performance of a contract, compliance with a legal obligation, or for our legitimate business interests, as permitted by applicable law.

Under the PDPL and related UAE data protection regulations, users of Recook have the right to access their personal data, request correction or deletion, object to processing, and request data portability. We provide mechanisms for users to exercise these rights easily and transparently, in line with our commitment to uphold the principles of data protection and privacy.

Use of Personal Information:

Users acknowledge and agree that Recook has the right to use Personal Information for the following purposes:

  • Verification of account ownership, identification and communication with and between users.
  • Sending news, updates, special offers, and promotions.
  • Using geo-location and destination for showing relevant products to be swapped and arrange swaps.
  • Analyzing usage patterns to enhance app performance.
  • User generated content posted through the site such as service/recipe reviews and certain social networking preferences (e.g. pages you "Like" or "Recommend") may be viewed by the general public. Accordingly, Recook cannot ensure the privacy of any PII included in such user generated content.

Recook may use information from other sources, including social media services, to improve and personalize services.
Information collected may be used for service maintenance, fraud prevention, internal operations, and communication about services, promotions, and events.

Aggregate Information: Personal information does not include “aggregate” information. Aggregate information is data we collect about a group or category of products, services or customers, from which individual customer identities have been removed. In other words, information about how you use a service might be collected and combined with information about how others use the same service, but no personal information will be included in the resulting data. Likewise, information about the products you purchase might be collected and combined with information about the products purchased by others. Aggregate data helps us understand trends and customer needs so that we can better consider new products and services, and tailor existing products and services to customer desires. We might share aggregate information about our users with third parties for various purposes, such as helping us better understand and improve our services, and for advertising and marketing purposes

Platform Data
When using our Platform, we also may collect the following information, if you choose to provide us access or permission.

Geolocation – We may request for access or permission to track location-based information from your device, either continuously or when using the Platform, to provide items that are curated based on your location. You may change our access or permissions at any time in your device settings.

Mobile Device Access – We may request access to certain features in your device, including calendar, camera and others. Please note that You may change our access or permissions, with regard to the following, at any time in your device settings.

Mobile Device Data – We automatically collect device information (for example: device ID, model and manufacturer), operating system, version information and system configuration information, device and application identification numbers, browser type and version, hardware mole, Internet service provider, Internet Protocol address (or proxy server).

Push Notification – We may request you to send push notifications regarding your account or certain features of the Platform. If you wish to opt out from receiving these types of communications, you may turn them off in your device’s settings.

Please note that we process and use personal data of our users only for valid and legal reasons, including:

  • To optimize your experience using the Platform, including providing efficient content.

  • with attorneys, collection agencies, tribunals or law enforcement authorities pursuant to valid requests in connection with alleged violations of Recook terms of use and service or other alleged contract violations, infringement or similar harm to persons or property.
  • in the event that we sell or merge part of our business, we may transfer your information to the acquiring company.

We only share the information that is necessary for the required purpose so we do not disclose all of the information you provide to us and we do not sell, rent or lease your personal information to third parties under any circumstances.\
Aggregated or anonymized data may be shared with our service providers, affiliates or other third parties for the purpose of analytics and to improve products and services.

Recipients Why we share it
Other Users of the Platform We will need to share some of the personal information with other users of the Platform if you wish to transact with them through the Platform. By placing an advertisement or submitting a review or rating on the Platform, such information along with any personal information associated with your account profile (including username, profile picture and any information made public in your account) will be publicly accessible, and may be copied and shared externally by all other users. This information may also appear in third party search engine results (eg: Google). Please ensure that you carefully ensure that only such information that you are comfortable with being publicly available is submitted.
Service Providers As our providers provide us with a range of services necessary for the operation of the Platform (eg: IT, system administration services or marketing), they may have access to your personal information as a result.
Group Companies is a part of a group of companies. We may have to share some personal information of yours with our affiliates necessary to provide you with efficient services, such as answering your inquiries.
Professional Advisers Our professional advisers (such as lawyers, accountants, auditors, bankers etc.) may require limited access to your personal information when they provide their services to us.
Public Authorities We may require you to disclose your personal information to public authorities in compliance with the applicable laws.
Security

We have implemented appropriate and reasonable technical and organizational security measures designed to protect the security of any personal information we process. However, despite our good faith efforts, no electronic transmission over the internet or information storage technology can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee complete security. Although we will do our best to secure your information, transmission of personal information to and from our Services is at your own risk. Please ensure to only access the Services within a secure environment. We adhere to the PDPL's requirements regarding data security and will promptly notify the relevant UAE authorities and affected individuals in the event of a data breach which comes to our express notice , in accordance with legal obligations and procedures.

Retention

Unless otherwise required by applicable law, we will retain your information for as long as is necessary for the relevant purpose outlined in this Privacy Policy. If you register an enquiry with us via the Contact Us, your information will be retained for as long as required or for an additional period to administer any requests concerning your enquiry, or in accordance with our legal obligations including where it is necessary for the establishment, exercise or defense of legal claims.
When we have no ongoing legitimate business need to process your personal data, we will either delete and/or securely store your information and isolate it from further processing until deletion is possible.
You may delete your account at any time from the app by visiting My Profile(icon on the top right) and selecting the Delete account option. After you delete your account, you will not be able to sign in to our Platform. However, you can open a new, separate account at any time. If you delete your account, we may still retain certain information associated with your account for analytical purposes and recordkeeping integrity, as well as, to prevent fraud, collect any fees owed, enforce our terms and conditions, take actions we deem necessary to protect the integrity of our website or our users, or take other actions otherwise permitted by law. In addition, if certain information has already been provided to third parties as described in this Privacy Policy, retention of that information will be subject to those third parties’ policies.

International Data Transfer Clause

Any transfer of personal data outside the UAE is conducted in compliance with the PDPL's provisions on international data transfers. Recook ensures that data is transferred to countries or entities that provide an adequate level of data protection, as determined by UAE law, or under the safeguards and conditions deemed acceptable by the PDPL

How you can control your personal data

If you want to remove your information, you can contact us admin@recook.ae or visit My Profile from the app and select the Delete account option. We will do our best to comply with your request, if possible and delete your personal data (or such portions of it) from our systems where there is no good reason for us to continue processing it.
